Podere La Marronaia, San Gimignano
Podere La Marronaia grew around a 13th-century watchtower that once formed part of San Gimignano’s defences. Revived in 2000 when Luigi and Silvia purchased the property, and restored with their sons Pietro and Corrado, it now operates as a welcoming agritourism with three comfortable apartments set amid vineyards and olive groves.
The estate remains a working farm. The family cultivates the land and produces organic wines, grappa, and extra-virgin olive oil, available for purchase and structured tastings. Visits typically include guided walks through the vineyards and the cellar for a clear view of production. From the outset, the owners embraced organic methods and later adopted biodynamic practices, encouraging biodiversity and soil health.
Experiences range from guided tastings of estate products to signature vineyard meals-such as a saffron-themed lunch on panoramic terraces-as well as relaxed “wine-and-snack” options with bruschetta, olive oil, balsamic, and a selection of house wines.
