Russian Orthodox Holy Trinity Church, Vancouver

Russian Orthodox Holy Trinity Church, Vancouver

The initiation of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church took place in Vancouver under the guidance of Archpriest Philemon Gorelik. His aim was to acquire and safeguard the Orthodox church edifice constructed by the late Archpriest Alexander Kiziun (or Kizyun) between 1938 and 1940. This event signifies the true genesis of the community.

The original interior of the church featured modest paper icons and an uninspiring, unpainted iconostasis. In contrast, the current interior boasts an exquisite wooden iconostasis and stained glass windows, thanks to the efforts of the church's second rector, Archpriest Philemon Gorelik.

The Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia is rooted in the mission to uphold the devotion of Russian Orthodox Christians living in exile, the Russian Orthodox Church, and the broader Orthodox spiritual culture. This mission has been diligently pursued in daily life through the presence of Temples, educational institutions, and households. It underscores the dedication to preserving Russian spiritual life to the fullest extent possible within a foreign context.
