SCMaglev and Railway Park, Nagoya

The SCMAGLEV and Railway Park is a railway museum welcoming visitors since its inauguration on March 14, 2011. This museum showcases 39 full-size railway vehicles along with a bus exhibit, train cab simulators, and intricate railway model dioramas. Its construction began in August 2009, with the initial exhibits being relocated starting from July 2010.

Dedicated to elucidating the advancements in high-speed rail technology in Japan, the museum boasts an array of actual trains, including historic steam locomotives, groundbreaking experimental shinkansen (bullet trains), and the cutting-edge magnetic levitating trains (maglev). Visitors have the opportunity to explore many retired train cars, some of which are accessible for entry or viewing from beneath, complemented by informative exhibits detailing various components, operations, and maintenance aspects of trains.

A significant segment of the museum is devoted to maglev trains, illustrating JR Central's plans for constructing a high-speed maglev link between Tokyo and Osaka. Additionally, the museum offers engaging experiences tailored for young children on its second floor, featuring popular attractions like train simulators, which allow visitors to experience driving conventional and shinkansen trains, as well as a train crew simulator simulating the responsibilities of a train conductor.

A highlight of the museum is its expansive train diorama, one of the largest in Japan, depicting miniature trains traversing detailed recreations of Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo. Furthermore, visitors can immerse themselves in Japan's railway history through historical artifacts showcased in the museum.
