Seven Mile Beach, George Town

Seven Mile Beach, George Town

Seven Mile Beach, located on the western coast of Grand Cayman, is one of the island’s crown jewels and its most iconic attraction. Despite the name, the beach stretches for just over 6 miles (10 kilometers), offering a long, uninterrupted stretch of soft coral sand and clear turquoise water. Seven Mile Beach lives up to the hype with its postcard-perfect scenery, gentle waves, and laid-back atmosphere. It's entirely public, meaning visitors can freely stroll its full length no matter where they're staying.

This stretch of paradise is also the most developed area on the island, lined with luxury resorts, condominiums, and beachfront restaurants. Public beach bars and seaside dining spots make it easy to spend an entire day soaking up the sun with refreshments nearby. Small offshore reefs provide great snorkeling opportunities-especially near the Marriott’s artificial reef and by Government House. The calm, shallow waters are perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, or simply floating while taking in the views.

Located just north of the capital, George Town, and south of the scenic district of West Bay, Seven Mile Beach is conveniently close to other key attractions. Across the road lies Camana Bay, a lively hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

The capital of the Cayman Islands, George Town is where the area’s history, identity, and evolution converge. What began in the 18th century as a small coastal outpost, settled by British seafarers and enslaved Africans, has grown into a major center for finance, tourism, and government. The town was named in honour of King George III, a nod to its long-standing connection to the British Crown.
