St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Anaheim

St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Anaheim

Founded in 1961, Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Anaheim stands as a vibrant center of faith, community, and tradition. What began as a dream among Greek Orthodox Christians in Orange County in 1960 has grown into a thriving parish rooted in the ancient traditions of the Orthodox Church.

For the first 14 years, the congregation worked tirelessly to build a church that reflected the depth of their devotion. In 1975, that dream became a reality, and a decade later, in 1985, the church was consecrated by the Archbishop. Today, the church is housed in a striking Byzantine-style structure, easily recognizable by its large golden dome topped with a decorated cross, two graceful towers, and vivid stained glass windows.

Inside, visitors are welcomed by stunning iconography and religious art that adorn the walls and ceilings-offering a spiritual journey through centuries of Orthodox tradition. Beyond worship, the church serves as a hub of community life. The Educational Center supports Sunday School classes from Pre-K through High School, while the Youth Department offers programs such as JOY and GOYA, Greek dancing, basketball, and other engaging activities for children and teens.

Sunday Divine Liturgy begins at 10:00 AM, and all are warmly invited to attend. Visitors are encouraged to experience Orthodox Christianity firsthand-often called "America’s best-kept spiritual secret." With roots stretching back to Apostolic times, the Orthodox Church remains a living tradition, connecting believers across cultures and generations.

Located in the heart of Orange County, Saint John’s welcomes all who seek faith, fellowship, and a deep sense of belonging.
