Teardrop Cocktail Lounge, Portland

Teardrop Cocktail Lounge, Portland

Teardrop Cocktail Lounge has been part of the local craft-cocktail scene since 2007. Founded by Daniel Shoemaker and Ted Charak, it helped introduce a more ingredient-focused style of bartending when carefully prepared cocktails were still uncommon in the area. The lounge became known for combining established recipes with new flavours and detailed preparation.

The interior centres on a curved island bar, allowing guests to watch the bartenders work from almost every seat. Drinks may feature fresh juices, house-made syrups, tinctures, bitters and less familiar spirits. The changing menu balances original creations with respected classics, while staff can suggest drinks according to a guest’s preferred flavours, strength or base spirit.

Low lighting and the open bar arrangement create a polished but relaxed setting suited to conversation. Light dishes and snacks are served alongside the cocktails, making the lounge suitable for a longer evening visit rather than only a quick drink. Reservations are available, particularly useful during busy periods. Entry is limited to guests aged 21 and over, as the venue’s licence does not permit minors at any time.
