Tulsa Botanic Garden, Tulsa

The Tulsa Botanic Garden is a 170-acre horticultural oasis nestled in the Osage Hills, just 8 miles northwest of downtown Tulsa. First envisioned in 1999 as the Oklahoma Centennial Botanical Garden Research and Education Center, the garden began to take root thanks to land donations, state grants, and a blessing ceremony by the Osage Nation. It officially opened to the public in 2009 and has since evolved into a vibrant destination promoting the beauty and significance of plants for a sustainable future.

The garden's standout feature is the A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Floral Terraces, a formal 4-acre garden with over 8,000 plants arranged in seasonal displays, Art Deco-inspired patterns, and cascading water features. For younger visitors (and the young at heart), the Children’s Discovery Garden offers interactive fun with spitting animal fountains, carnivorous plants, a Sensory Walk, and a whimsical Tree Fort guarded by the towering Spring Giant.

Nature lovers can explore the Cross Timbers Trail, a 1.5-mile hike through native prairie and forest landscapes. In 2023, the garden expanded with the Bumgarner Family Foundation Lotus Pool and the Stanford Family Liberty Garden, adding aquatic plants and year-round greenery to the mix.

Tulsa Botanic Garden is also a sought-after venue for weddings and events, thanks to the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Grange, a scenic facility on site. With ongoing development and an ever-expanding collection, the Tulsa Botanic Garden continues to grow as a dynamic space for education, celebration, and quiet reflection in nature.
