Vose Galleries proudly holds the title of being the oldest family-owned art gallery in the United States. With a storied history dating back to its establishment in 1841, the Vose family has accumulated over 150 years of expertise in the world of art. This legacy has been handed down through six generations-passing from fathers to sons and now daughters-encompassing an impressive collection of more than 34,000 works of art.
In the fall of 2001, Vose Galleries made a notable addition to its repertoire by introducing a contemporary section. This move marked their return to engaging with living artists after an absence of nearly 40 years.
The gallery specializes in 19th- and 20th-century American art, with a particular focus on renowned movements such as the Hudson River School, Boston School, and American Impressionism. Spanning five floors, Vose Galleries proudly presents New England's most extensive inventory of American realist paintings.
