Weinschloeßle, Bregenz

Weinschloeßle, Bregenz

Weinschlößle is a protected historic villa whose core dates back to the 17th century. Expanded in 1890, the building gained much of its current look. It is a timber-framed structure with a cross-gabled roof and an onion-domed corner bay window. For many decades, it was known as a traditional inn. Its name, meaning “little wine castle,” reflects this earlier role. Today, it remains a listed architectural monument that connects several centuries of local history.

The house stands above the old upper town and offers open views toward Lake Constance. Its elevated position has always been one of its defining features. In the past, guests came here to dine while enjoying the landscape. Although the restaurant era has ended, the setting and the historic character of the building remain unchanged.

On January 16, 2026, construction began on a new Kinderhaus Weinschlößle designed by Dorner Matt. It replaces the former kindergarten building and will house four kindergarten groups and two toddler groups. Work continues until summer 2027, with some groups temporarily relocated, while the historic villa serves as backup space for the Waldkindergarten.
