Operated by the Xenix Film Club, this arthouse cinema and bar have established a unique presence in Zurich's cultural scene. Originating during the youthful unrest of the early 1980s, Xenix has upheld its core values of liberty and acceptance of diverse lifestyles and cultures.

Functioning as an arthouse cinema, Xenix takes a thought-provoking approach to political, social, and cultural discussions through its curated programs and events. With 11 distinctive programs annually, each month introduces a new theme—whether thematic, geographical, social, political, or a retrospective dedicated to specific filmmakers. This dedication underscores the significance of independent filmmakers and the diverse narratives of various subcultures. Films are presented in their original format with subtitles, emphasizing authenticity and encouraging deeper engagement with the subject matter.

The Xenix Bar, located on the same premises, is more than just a place for drinks; it's a bustling social center in the neighborhood. Its outdoor area, particularly lively during summer, transforms into a communal space with an additional bar and food stand, attracting both locals and visitors. The venue is renowned for hosting significant events, including anniversary celebrations every five years and live World Cup screenings, culminating in a traditional pétanque tournament to mark the end of the summer season.
