Sometimes the best travel moments aren’t planned. That’s exactly how we ended up in Cascais, on a whim, with just half a day to explore. And somehow, it turned into one of our favorite experiences near Lisbon.

If you’re wondering whether Cascais is worth visiting, even for a few hours, the answer is absolutely yes.

A quick train ride from Cais do Sodré Station gets you there in about 40 minutes, and it’s one of the most scenic routes along the coast.

Even better? The station in Cascais is just a 3-minute walk to the beach, restaurants, and the main square.

Planning tip: If you prefer something more structured, you can also book a guided day trip (great if you want to combine Cascais with Sintra without the stress of planning). You can also book a private tour from Cascais that will take you to all the places mentioned below!

If you’d rather not plan everything yourself or want to see more in one day, booking a tour is one of the easiest ways to experience Cascais. ...... (follow the instructions below for accessing the rest of this article).
