Discovering Narvik, Narvik, Norway

During my 47-day remote working adventure across Norway in 2023, I had the pleasure of spending two unforgettable days in Narvik—a town that has grown far beyond its storied past. Discovering Narvik wasn’t something I had planned. I initially included it in my itinerary only because a few weeks before my trip, I watched a captivating Netflix film about World War II entitled “Narvik”.

But from the quick, scenic bus ride that heralds your arrival to the myriad of winter activities available, Narvik proved to be one of the highlights of my first week in this fantastic country.

One of the first things that struck me was the ease and beauty of the journey to Narvik. The bus ride from Tromsø was both quick and scenic, offering sweeping views of snow-dusted mountains, icy fjords, and peaceful Arctic landscapes.

Travellers are advised to check local bus schedules in advance —services are punctual and comfortable, with modern coaches equipped for the winter chill. For solo female travellers, this mode of transport is efficient and an excellent opportunity to soak in the landscape and perhaps chat with fellow adventurers. ......
