Trebinje: The Perfect Escape in Eastern Europe

Trebinje: The Perfect Escape in Eastern Europe, Trebinje, Bosnia-Herzegovina

Nestled in the picturesque valleys of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Trebinje is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. This charming town is located in the southern region of the country, just a short drive away from Dubrovnik on the Adriatic coast from where I had rented a car. The journey only takes around 40 minutes and is well worth the trip as I got to see stunning views of the surrounding countryside. And with its rich history, stunning architecture, and breathtaking natural surroundings, Trebinje is the perfect destination for travellers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

One of the first things you’ll notice about Trebinje is its stunning architecture. The town is home to a number of beautiful Orthodox churches, including the iconic Hercegovacka Gracanica. This stunning church is a must-see for visitors, with its intricate frescoes and beautiful stained glass windows. Another architectural highlight is the Arslanagic bridge, a charming stone structure that spans the Trebisnjica River. This bridge is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, who come to admire the views of the surrounding countryside.

In addition to its architectural wonders, Trebinje is also home to a number of historical sites. One of the most famous is the Tvrdos Monastery, a 15th-century Serbian Orthodox monastery located just outside of town. The monastery is a peaceful oasis, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Visitors can explore the grounds, visit the monastery’s church, and even sample some of the delicious wines produced on site. ......
