What to Do in Tirana When it Rains, Tirana, Albania

Tirana, Albania’s Capital is famous for its busy streets, bustling outdoor cafés, and colourful architecture. However, during my nearly two-week stay in the city, I experienced seven days of rain straight, so what do you do in Tirana when it rains?

Well, first don’t let that discourage you—rain or shine, there are plenty of things to do and see in Tirana. In fact, a rainy day might just offer the perfect opportunity to explore the city in a whole new way. Ok, I admit by day five of rain, I was ready to go home but I was house-sitting for three cats, so that wasn’t an option.

So, whether you want to dive into history, enjoy delicious Albanian food, be pampered or find a cosy spot to relax, here are the best ways to spend a rainy day in Tirana.

A miserable, rainy day is the perfect excuse to visit Tirana’s bunker museums. Bunk’Art 1, on the outskirts of the city near the cable car, is a vast underground complex built during the communist era.
