Abeno Harukas, Osaka

Abeno Harukas, Osaka

Abeno Harukas, soaring to a height of 300 meters, stands as a monumental skyscraper in Osaka, directly atop the Osaka Abenobashi Station and near JR Tennoji Station. This towering structure was Japan's tallest building from its completion in 2014 until 2023. The skyscraper serves as a multi-functional urban complex, blending a variety of amenities and facilities across its 62 floors.

The building integrates the Kintetsu Department Store, which is one of the largest department stores in Japan, sprawling over approximately 100,000 square meters. This store spreads across multiple levels, featuring a vast range of goods from high-end cosmetics and the latest fashion to traditional crafts and kimonos, along with a comprehensive food market in its basement levels.

Abeno Harukas also hosts the Osaka Marriot Miyako Hotel, which occupies several floors throughout the tower and offers 297 rooms with breathtaking views of Osaka. The hotel is well-equipped with fitness facilities and diverse dining options, including Japanese, Western, teppanyaki, and buffet styles.

One of the standout features of Abeno Harukas is its observation deck, "Harukas 300," which is situated on the top three floors (58 to 60) and offers panoramic 360-degree views of the city through its expansive floor-to-ceiling glass panels. Additional amenities on these floors include a cafe and a souvenir shop.

On the cultural front, the Abeno Harukas Art Museum, located on the 16th floor, curates a range of special exhibitions featuring both Japanese and Western art. This includes notable exhibitions from artists such as Hokusai and Matisse, as well as from popular entities like Studio Ghibli. The complex also includes a rooftop garden on the 16th floor, providing a serene spot with seating areas overlooking the cityscape, and the facility is accessible without charge.

With its multifunctional design and diverse offerings, Abeno Harukas epitomizes the future of high-rise urban spaces, providing both leisure and business visitors with a comprehensive, elevated experience in the heart of Osaka. Its name, derived from an old Japanese expression meaning “to brighten, to clear up,” fittingly reflects the bright and open atmosphere that the complex aims to offer its guests.
