Art Gallery Fabrica, Brighton
Nestled within the historic lanes of Brighton, Fabrica is a vibrant and inclusive space where art and community intersect. Housed in the deconsecrated Holy Trinity Church-a Grade II listed building-Fabrica has been a cornerstone of Brighton's cultural scene since its opening in March 1996. Established by artists from Red Herring Studios with the support of various local and national organizations, Fabrica was envisioned as a focal point for contemporary visual art practice.
Throughout the year, Fabrica hosts three major exhibitions, offering immersive and innovative artworks that interact with the unique architecture of its historic venue. These exhibitions feature a mix of newly commissioned works by emerging artists and celebrated international creators, providing visitors with a dynamic and evolving experience of contemporary art.
Fabrica's programming extends beyond traditional exhibitions, embracing a rich variety of events that include film screenings, talks, group discussions, and community-led activities. These events cater to all ages and abilities, fostering a sense of inclusion and creativity. The gallery's year-round creative workshops invite participants to explore various artistic disciplines such as sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and textiles, encouraging learning and enhancing well-being.
A key aspect of Fabrica's mission is collaboration. The gallery frequently partners with local community members, national organizations, and other artists to co-create and deliver a wide range of artistic and engagement-based programs. Fabrica also offers unique opportunities for artists through its "Making Space" initiative, which supports and showcases work-in-progress, as well as through its "In Between Gallery" photographic exhibitions and artist residencies.
Fabrica is more than just an art gallery; it is a hub of creativity, culture, and community engagement, offering visitors a chance to experience art in unexpected and meaningful ways.
