Attic Books, London

Attic Books, London

Attic Books is a large second-hand bookstore that opened in 1976, founded by Marvin Post. It has grown into one of the biggest used bookstores in Canada, with hundreds of thousands of items across several floors. Inside, narrow aisles and floor-to-ceiling shelves create a maze-like layout that encourages slow browsing.

The store offers both everyday reading and more specialized material. Visitors can find fiction, history, science, and art, along with antiquarian books, first editions, and out-of-print titles. Maps, prints, postcards, and magazines are also available. Alongside the larger collection, a curated selection of over 25,000 catalogued items can be requested for viewing.

The building includes features such as tin ceilings, hardwood floors, and an early 20th-century elevator. A gargoyle on the exterior and a replica TARDIS inside add distinctive details. Staff can help locate specific titles, and an annual Basement Sale in February offers discounted books.
