Benoit Chocolatier, Lille

Benoit Chocolatier, Lille

Benoit Chocolatier, located in Lille, epitomizes the rich tradition and artistry of chocolate making. Founded in 1989 by Dominique Benoit, alongside his wife Véronique, this family-run business quickly became a cornerstone of the local chocolate scene. Dominique, who was born into a family of chocolatiers, infused his lifelong passion for chocolate into the creation of Maison Benoit, which he established a year before the opening of their first shop in 1990.

Maison Benoit is renowned for its adherence to traditional chocolate-making methods, producing a wide array of chocolates that cater to diverse tastes-from bitter and sweet to unique flavors like chicory and praline. The variety extends to intricate confections such as the “Colombia” with coffee on a dark chocolate mousse, the “Bel Canto” featuring pistachio and raspberry, and the “Angevin” with Cointreau cherries on a praline mousse.

In 1991, to enhance the chocolate-tasting experience, Dominique expanded the business by adding a tea room to the Lille shop. This airy and tranquil space allows customers to enjoy signature treats like the Pavé de la Monnaie (praline with grilled, caramelized almonds), the Lille Truffle, and exquisite white chocolates, complemented by an assortment of rare coffees and rich hot chocolate.

The passion for chocolate is a family affair at Maison Benoit. Dominique and Véronique trained their entire team, ensuring high standards were maintained in every creation. Their son, Adrien, has been groomed to continue the family legacy, bringing fresh ideas and innovative techniques to the table, which has helped maintain the brand’s reputation and appeal.
