Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex, Birmingham

The Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC), formerly known as the Birmingham–Jefferson Civic Center, is a major hub for sports, conventions, and entertainment in Birmingham. Strategically located in the heart of the city, the complex is anchored by two prominent hotels-the Sheraton Birmingham and Westin Birmingham-which are directly connected to the convention center.

The complex is home to a variety of versatile facilities. The Exhibition Hall, covering 220,000 square feet, is Birmingham’s largest space for trade shows and conventions, capable of hosting 1,100 exhibit booths and divisible into three smaller halls. Complementing this are 64 meeting rooms with a total of 100,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 16,000-square-foot ballroom that can seat up to 1,200 guests.

Entertainment is a major feature of the BJCC, which includes three main venues: an arena, a concert hall, and a theater. A fourth venue, a college football stadium, was scheduled to open in fall 2021, further expanding the complex’s reach in sports and live events.

Adding to the mix is the Medical Forum, a ten-story structure offering a 275-seat theater, classrooms, conference space, and offices. It enhances the BJCC’s capacity to host medical and educational events. The Sheraton Birmingham, with its 838 rooms, includes additional meeting and ballroom space and has hosted notable events like the COGIC AIM Convention Youth Services in 2012. Meanwhile, the 294-room Westin Birmingham, located in the Uptown entertainment district, provides over 9,500 square feet of event space, making the BJCC a well-rounded venue for gatherings of all types.
