Brno Exhibition Centre, Brno

The Brno Exhibition Centre, located in Brno, is a renowned convention center that has been a key hub for trade fairs and exhibitions since its establishment in 1928. Spanning 15 exhibition halls, the center has a daily visitor capacity ranging from 25,000 to 30,000, with a maximum capacity of up to 60,000 people.

Brno's tradition of hosting trade fairs, dating back to 1243, is closely linked to its historical and industrial growth, establishing it as a key industrial and logistical hub in Central Europe. Major trade shows began in the 18th century with the rise of the textile industry, becoming regular events by 1821 and attracting merchants from across Europe. A highlight was the 1888 Imperial Jubilee Exhibition, which drew 104,000 visitors, the largest in Brno at that time.

The Brno Exhibition Centre gained prominence with the Brno Annual Exhibition Markets (1922-1927), making Brno known as "The Capital of Trade Fairs." Its international reputation was solidified in 1958 with the International Engineering Fair (MSV Brno), a key Cold War business hub between East and West. Today, the MSV remains a vital platform for business and technology exchanges in Central Europe, attracting about 12,000 firms and nearly one million visitors annually.

Beyond its role in trade shows and exhibitions, the Brno Exhibition Centre is a versatile venue hosting a wide range of events, including political summits, conventions, concerts, sporting events, and corporate gatherings. Its distinctive hall interiors and expansive exteriors make it an ideal location for film production, with many commercials, music videos, and movie scenes being shot there.

Noteworthy events hosted at the center include the Czech Summit in 2007, which brought together presidents from Central and Southeast European states, and the 2009 EU Meeting of Agricultural Ministers during the Czech EU presidency. Additionally, the center was chosen by The Rolling Stones as the venue for their 2007 A Bigger Bang European Tour concert in Brno.
