Canada Life Place, London
Canada Life Place is a large indoor arena that opened in October 2002 as part of a plan to renew the downtown core. It was originally known as the John Labatt Centre, then Budweiser Gardens, before receiving its current name in October 2024 under a new naming rights agreement. The venue replaced the older London Ice House and now hosts sports, concerts, and public events. Its exterior includes a replica of the historic Talbot Inn façade, echoing a building that once stood on the site.
The arena is best known as the home of the London Knights, a team in the Ontario Hockey League. Hockey games are a major draw, with seating arranged to provide clear views of the ice. The space is designed to be flexible, allowing quick changes in layout for different types of events, from sports to large-scale performances.
In addition to games, Canada Life Place hosts concerts, comedy shows, and touring productions throughout the year. Its capacity is about 9,000 for hockey and can exceed 10,000 for concerts and center-stage events. The venue is currently undergoing upgrades through a multi-million dollar “Elevation Project,” focused on improving suites, concessions, and backstage areas to better support modern productions and visitor comfort.
