Chapelle Saint Joseph de Glatigny (Chapel of Saint Joseph of Glatigny), Versailles
The Chapel of Saint Joseph of Glatigny, part of the Parish of Sainte-Jeanne-d’Arc, has its roots in the long presence of the Capuchin Fathers in Versailles. When their original convent near the Trianon was replaced by the Trianon Palace hotel in the early 20th century, the order acquired new land in Glatigny. Construction of the convent began with the laying of the first stone in 1923, and the chapel was formally blessed in 1934 by Bishop Roland-Gosselin, providing the community with a renewed place of worship.
Architecturally, its stone façade is marked by a simple gable with a small bellcote and a cross. Inside, visitors will notice a restrained space animated by light. In 1997 the renowned Loire studios installed thick glass slabs stained-glass panels in the choir-contemporary work by Gabriel Loire.
Today, the Chapel of Saint Joseph of Glatigny serves as an active place of worship, hosting regular services and occasional community gatherings. It is overseen by Saint Joan of Arc Church, which manages the schedules and parish activities for the Glatigny–Clagny district.
