Paris France Temple, Versailles
The Paris France Temple is a relatively new religious building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was officially dedicated in 2017 after a period of planning, construction, and public open house. The temple is notable for being the first one of this Church built in metropolitan France, and the second in the country overall.
Architecturally, one of the features that stands out is its use of warm‑toned limestone similar to that used in much of the built heritage in the Versailles and Le Chesnay area, helping the temple to blend somewhat with local aesthetics. It has a flat roof with a central skylight, landscaped gardens around it, and water features to frame the temple grounds. On the grounds is a visitors’ center, open to the public, that includes model displays and information.
Inside, the Paris France Temple contains several sacred spaces typical of LDS temples: there is a baptistry, multiple ordinance rooms, and sealing rooms. While most of the building is reserved for members in special religious functions, the public can access the visitors’ center and the gardens.
