Charlottetown Farmers Market, Charlottetown

The Charlottetown Farmers’ Market has long held a central place in community life, offering visitors the chance to experience the island’s abundance firsthand. More than sixty vendors gather here, filling the hall with a lively mix of farm produce, artisan foods, handmade crafts, and the easy warmth of island hospitality. It's an opportunity to meet vendors, enjoy prepared dishes on the spot, and take in the lively rhythm.

Its history stretches back over two centuries, when markets were held in Charlottetown’s downtown squares. In the early 1980s, it found a permanent home in a purpose-built space, where it continues to thrive as a non-profit, membership-based co-operative. This structure supports local farmers, artisans, and small businesses.

Walking through the market, visitors encounter stalls piled high with leafy greens, PEI’s celebrated red potatoes, berries, and an array of freshly baked breads and pastries. Alongside the produce and food stands are tables displaying pottery, jewelry, soaps, and knitted goods, each item crafted and sold by its maker.
