Dalton Hall at University of Prince Edward Island, Charlottetown
Dalton Hall was originally the second building erected for Saint Dunstan’s College and served as a male student residence. It was named in honor of Sir Charles Dalton-a prosperous silver fox rancher and philanthropist-whose donation funded its construction. The building was officially blessed and opened by the Papal Nuncio in 1919.
Recognized for its historical and architectural significance, Dalton Hall is included in the Canadian Register of Historic Places alongside UPEI’s oldest edifices. The building features a durable brick structure accented with decorative cement blocks, plaster, and a slate roof, reflecting early 20th-century design sensibilities.
Dalton Hall functioned as a dormitory until 1972, when it underwent significant renovations to accommodate office and classroom space. Today, it houses areas such as Accessibility Services, Student Accounts, Scholarships & Financial Aid, the Registrar's Office, international student services, recruitment and advising, experiential education, and the Webster Centre for Student Success.
