PEI Brewing Company, established in 2012, builds on a legacy of island brewing that started with Murphy’s in 1997 and progressed through Gahan House Brewery from 2000, before evolving into its current incarnation. It now stands as a hub for award-winning craft beer such as Gahan Beer, Beach Chair Lager, and the Colliding Tides cocktail line.
After officially becoming PEI Brewing Company, the facility expanded production rapidly with cutting-edge brewing technology and a larger facility-followed by an even bigger upgrade in 2013 that included installation of a 50-hectolitre system at a former Coca-Cola plant. Their dedication to innovation paid off: the company earned Gold, Silver, and Bronze at Canadian Brewing Awards.
It also serves as a friendly taproom and event space-often outfitted with a visual timeline of its brewing milestones, comfortable lounge-style seating, and even a pizza oven for casual bites. Visitors can sample a spectrum of beers and roasty Sydney Street Stout, to fruit-infused seasonals like Blueberry Ale, plus rotating cask offerings.
