Circus, Ulaanbaatar

Circus, Ulaanbaatar

The Mongolian National Circus-now known as ASA Arena-was built in 1971 with support from Romania and stands as a symbol of Mongolia’s socialist-era ambitions, its round design reflecting the architectural trends of that period.

For many years, the Circus served as a training ground for Mongolia’s most celebrated performers. Beyond hosting acrobatics, juggling, aerial acts, and clown performances, it was home to a renowned circus school-once considered one of the strongest in Asia-where professional training went hand in hand with public entertainment.

More recently, the arena has been renovated and modernized. Today, under its newer name ASA Arena, it remains an active cultural venue, staging not only circus productions but also a wide range of artistic and entertainment events.
