Yünsiyebü Byambyn Rinchen Monument, Ulaanbaatar

Standing prominently in front of the National Library of Mongolia, the Yünsiyebü Byambyn Rinchen Monument pays tribute to one of Mongolia’s greatest literary figures. Byambyn Rinchen was a writer, translator, scholar, and foundational figure in modern Mongolian literature. The statue was erected in 2005, on the centennial of Rinchen’s birth, designed by B. Denzen, Rinchen’s own grandson, which adds a personal connection to the monument.

Byambyn Rinchen’s contribution to Mongolian culture is vast. He was the first Mongolian academician, a respected translator, and a novelist whose works have become classics. He translated over 240 works from more than 70 authors from around 20 countries. His writing spanned folklore, history, linguistics, and literature, and many of his works are taught in Mongolian schools.
