Civic Center Music Hall, Oklahoma City

Civic Center Music Hall, Oklahoma City

Originally opened in 1937 as the Municipal Auditorium, the Civic Center Music Hall is an impressive six-story building designed by Hawk & Parr, merging Neoclassical magnificence with Art Deco elements. In 1967, after extensive renovations, it was renamed and evolved into the contemporary performing arts center.

Inside you'll find the jewel of the complex: the Thelma Gaylord Performing Arts Theatre, seating approximately 2,500 guests. Enhanced through the city's Metropolitan Area Projects Plan initiative in the early 2000s, the theatre features superb acoustics, a hydraulic orchestra pit, elegant balconies and box seating.

Beyond the main stage, visitors can explore additional spaces such as the Freede Little Theatre, CitySpace, the intimate Meinders Hall of Mirrors, and a fully equipped rehearsal hall - all catering to a wide range of performances, from touring Broadway productions and opera to ballet and symphony concerts.

This dynamic venue hosts around 250 performances annually and attracts over 300,000 patrons. It serves as the base for renowned artistic groups such as the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Ballet, Rep, Lyric Theatre, and the Broadway series. Its notable architecture and cultural impact led to its inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
