Elements Nightclub, Kitchener

Elements Nightclub opened in 2001 inside the historic Capitol Theatre building, first built in 1920. The former theatre design gives it a much larger interior than most clubs, including a wide open floor and a wraparound balcony that offers clear views of the stage. The venue became known for its strong sound system, large lighting setup, and a mirrored disco ball often promoted as the largest in Canada. Events typically run late, with strict age checks at the entrance.

The venue originally focused on electronic music and touring DJs but has since shifted into a hybrid space for concerts and dance events. Its schedule now centres on ticketed live shows across genres such as rock, hip-hop, pop, country, and blues, with past performers including Lady Gaga (2008), Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and Three Days Grace.

The interior can be adjusted depending on the event. Some nights are arranged for DJs and open dancing, while others shift to a concert setup with a clear stage and standing crowd, including mosh-pit style shows. The high ceilings, inherited from the original theatre design, shape the sound inside the space and have influenced how different music styles are presented. Today, the venue operates mainly as a special-event space and is often closed unless a concert or themed ticketed night is scheduled.
