Faro Punta Mogotes (Punta Mogotes Lighthouse), Mar del Plata

Faro Punta Mogotes (Punta Mogotes Lighthouse), Mar del Plata (must see)

Situated south of Punta Cantera, the lighthouse was founded in France by popular architects, but was brought to Mar del Plata piece by piece and assembled in its current location at the beginning of 1890. Officially inaugurated in August 1891, the lighthouse is a conical tower with red and white horizontal lines which is built with iron plates, and on top continues with a cylindrical compartment glass for lighting. In 1934 the municipality established a system which sends a signal every few seconds, so that boats could find the direction of landing at the port of the city or just determine the position of the ship.
