Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology, Hamilton

Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology, Hamilton

Located within the premises of the original 1859 Hamilton Waterworks, the Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology stands as a testament to Canada's early industrial revolution. This National Historic Site, revered as a civil and power engineering landmark, showcases the city's rich industrial history.

At its core are two monumental 70-ton steam engines, crafted in Dundas and believed to be the oldest surviving Canadian-built of their kind. These behemoths once played a vital role in supplying Hamilton with clean drinking water from 1859 to 1910.

Today, the museum offers a glimpse into the social and mechanical life of Canada's early industrial era, housing various permanent and rotating exhibits. Visitors can partake in guided tours, public programs, and special events tailored for all ages, including Live Steamer Days during the summer months and the Electric City Festival in September.
