Hotel Chocolat, Nottingham

Hotel Chocolat, Nottingham

Nestled in the heart of Nottingham, Hotel Chocolat is a haven for chocolate lovers with a conscience. More than just a shop, it’s a celebration of ethically sourced cacao, innovative craftsmanship, and a deep respect for chocolate’s ancient roots. Open since 2004, the Nottingham branch reflects the brand’s mission to bring excitement, quality, and integrity back to British chocolate.

Inside, you’ll find a carefully curated selection: rich truffles, silky caramels, hot chocolate flakes, and chocolate boxes for every occasion - whether you’re hunting for a modest treat or a decadent gift hamper. For a refreshing twist, try their famed “Ice Cream of the Gods,” infused with cacao for a divine pick-me-up before diving back into Nottingham’s city buzz.

What sets Hotel Chocolat apart is its bean-to-bar philosophy. Unlike most chocolate brands, Hotel Chocolat owns a cacao farm - the lush Rabot Estate in Saint Lucia - and works closely with farmers around the world to support sustainable, fairer growing practices. Their guiding principle? More cocoa, less sugar. Their milk chocolates boast 40–50% cacao, while even the white chocolate holds 36%, putting flavor and quality above cheap fillers.

Pioneers since their first shop in North London, co-founders Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris have grown Hotel Chocolat into an international presence, with 126 locations (including over 40 in Japan), cafés, and even a boutique eco-hotel. But their core remains rooted in authenticity, natural ingredients, and constant innovation - with new recipes crafted monthly in their Cambridgeshire innovation center.

At Hotel Chocolat Nottingham, you’re not just buying a chocolate bar - you’re joining a movement.
