Jardines de la Glorieta, Valencia
Glorieta Gardens (Jardines de la Glorieta) situated in the heart of the city center, is a charming green oasis adorned with magnificent towering trees. This serene sanctuary offers the perfect spot to unwind and take a break, whether you're exploring the bustling Colon Street or simply seeking solace while savoring a refreshing beverage or enjoying a delightful picnic.
Nestled at the starting point of Colon Street, closest to the river, this park finds itself adjacent to "La Puerta de la Mar" and the entrance to Mar Street, alongside Paz Street.
The park's origins can be traced back to 1812, during the French occupation of the city. At that time, a passionate amateur botanist, a French general, established a garden in the heart of the city, which eventually became known as La Glorieta Park. The majestic ficus trees were planted in 1852, and the park underwent a significant transformation in 1927, when the removal of an iron fence restored its present-day appearance.
La Glorieta is adorned with monuments dedicated to renowned Valencian figures. It includes a sculpture of Doctor Gómez Ferrer by Paredes, with Luis Bolinche contributing a depiction of children at his feet. There's also a cast bronze bust of painter Francisco Domingo Marqués by Mariano Benlliure, previously located in Las Alamedidas de Serranos. The park features busts of painters Muñoz Degrian and Joaquín Agrasot, both sculpted by Francisco Maroc y Díaz.

The city was destroyed in 75 BC by Pompey the Great, but was rebuilt within a century, later becoming home to Visigoths and then the Moors, who transformed... view more

Old Town Walking Tour
Valencia’s Old Town is the sort of place where the Romans, Moors, medieval merchants, Gothic builders, Baroque decorators, and modern shoppers all seem to have comfortably found their place (albeit at different times). Beneath today’s squares, Roman streets and forum remains sit quietly underground, while above them, the city’s Islamic-era street plan still winds and twists, refusing to... view more

Contemporary Architecture Walk
With one foot in the past and the other planted firmly in the future, Valencia manages a balancing act few European cities can pull off. Gothic bell towers, Baroque façades, bustling markets, and centuries-old plazas all share the stage with structures that look as though they were delivered directly from the year 2150. Among the city’s many architectural personalities, contemporary design... view more
