Lighthouse, Brighton

Lighthouse is a contemporary digital arts organization based in Brighton, with a mission to support emerging talent and increase access to the creative digital arts. Located in the vibrant North Laine cultural quarter, Lighthouse offers a central venue for a variety of events, including meetings, workshops, screenings, and panel discussions. The venue's hireable spaces, housed in former printworks shared with other creative and cultural businesses, provide flexible options for different needs, and all proceeds from these rentals directly support Lighthouse's artistic programs and talent development initiatives.

As a charity, Lighthouse is dedicated to nurturing artists who incorporate digital technology into their work and helping individuals find their way into and succeed in the creative and cultural industries. The organization offers a range of educational and talent development programs, commissions new work, and produces exhibitions, talks, and residencies. Notably, Lighthouse has established several internationally acclaimed talent development initiatives, such as Lighthouse Young Creatives and Guiding Lights. These programs have had significant impacts, including helping young people in Brighton & Hove launch their creative careers, supporting professional development for women in the sound and music sectors in Brazil, and connecting emerging filmmakers with top industry mentors, leading to BAFTA and Oscar-winning successes.

Over the past 30 years, Lighthouse has collaborated with renowned and emerging artists and filmmakers, showcasing innovative uses of digital technology in art. The organization's impressive roster of collaborators includes Haroon Mirza, The Otolith Group, and Trevor Paglen, among others. In 2021, Lighthouse directed the 10th edition of the Brighton Digital Festival, further solidifying its role as a key player in the digital arts scene.
