Longevity Bridge, Hong Kong

Located at the southern point of Repulse Bay Beach in Hong Kong, the Longevity Bridge is a legendary site that forms part of the Kwun Yam Shrine complex. Designed as a separate element from the shrine itself, this small yet colorful piece of architecture holds a special significance in local folklore. According to the legend, anyone who crosses the bridge will have three days added to their life.

The bridge stands out amidst the vibrant Kwun Tam and Tin Hau temples complex, which can be found at the far south end of the beach. Its unassuming location often causes it to be overlooked by visitors, but those who discover it are delighted by its picturesque setting. The bridge is particularly captivating during sunset, as the sun casts a beautiful glow behind it.

Surrounded by statues of gods and goddesses, including a giant goldfish with a small child riding on it, as well as oversized rams, the Longevity Bridge creates a riot of garish colors. Its whimsical and fantastical design adds to the overall charm of the site. Visitors can explore the statue park located at the southeast end of Repulse Bay Beach, just outside the Hong Kong Life Saving Society building, where the bridge was unveiled in 1981. Adjacent to the bridge is a large red Chinese pavilion structure, further enhancing the visual appeal of the area.
