Motor Museum (Rigas Motormuzejs), Riga

The Motor Museum in Riga is the largest antique vehicle museum in the Baltic countries. Operating under the Republic of Latvia Ministry of Transport, the museum has been a member of the International Association of Transport and Communication Museums (IATM-ICOM) since 1992, the Latvian Museum Association since 1994, and the Latvian Transport Development and Education Association since 2002. In addition to its extensive vehicle collection, the museum features a café and a sports club.

Founded in 1989 through the initiative of the Latvia Antique Automobile Club (AAK), the museum's building was designed by architect Viktors Valgums of Latgyprogorstroy. It became a state museum in 1992. A significant reconstruction occurred between 2013 and 2016, during which the vehicles were temporarily housed in Rāmava. The museum reopened on July 2, 2016.

The museum's exhibits are spread across three floors, each dedicated to a different theme. The ground floor traces the history of the automobile, featuring cars from the early twentieth century and highlighting the manufacture of vehicles in Latvia. The first floor is dedicated to motorsports, culturally significant cars, and the Soviet car industry, showcasing a collection of Soviet state cars used by Soviet leaders. The basement houses an array of trucks and special-purpose vehicles, including firetrucks, ambulances, and other early specialized vehicles.

One of the most notable exhibits is a replica of the 1938 Auto Union racing car Type C/D. The original car was preserved from being scrapped by Viktors Kulbergs, president of the Antique Automobile Club of Latvia. In 1995, after negotiations with Audi AG, the original was exchanged for a replica from Crostwaite & Gardiner and Roach Manufacturing. The original 1938 car is now displayed in Audi's museum mobile in Ingolstadt.
