Moynihans, Funchal

Moynihans, Funchal

Moynihan's is a pub in Funchal that is both owned and run by an Irish couple. Tadhg and Sinead Moynihan took over an existing Latino bar and rebranded it as Moynihan's in 2008. Before moving to Madeira, the couple ran several successful pubs in the UK. In 2002, they relocated to Madeira and fell in love with the island, deciding to bring their expertise to Funchal's center by establishing Moynihan's Irish Bar.

This cozy spot, slightly off the beaten path, offers a relaxing atmosphere for drinks and home-cooked meals. The pub also hosts regular music nights and screens all major sporting events, such as rugby, football, tennis, golf, and horse racing. The menu features classic Irish dishes like Fish in Beer Batter and Irish Ham, as well as popular options like lasagne and burgers.

The pub's owners have a deep affection for Madeira, making it a great place to experience Irish hospitality in the heart of the island.
