Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments, Split

The Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments, situated at Meštrović's promenade (Meštrovićevo šetalište), stands as the sole institution in the country devoted to the exploration and exhibition of cultural relics from the Middle Ages of the Croats, spanning between the 7th and 15th centuries. It particularly focuses on the era of the early medieval Croatian state, ranging from the 9th to the 12th century.

Originally established in Knin in 1893, the museum underwent relocations, first to Sinj, then Klis, before finally finding its current home in Split. Since 1976, the purpose-built museum complex has been proudly showcasing its remarkable collection.

The museum's holdings primarily comprise jewelry, weaponry, and everyday objects, alongside an extensive array of stone artifacts once belonging to the interiors of ancient Croatian churches. Among its treasures, the most notable collection includes early medieval wicker and clay figurines, as well as ancient Croatian Latin epigraphic monuments, making it the most extensive assortment of its kind across Europe.
