Omaha Public Library is the city’s public library system, serving the community through a network of neighborhood branches, digital services, and public programs. Its history dates to 1877, when the Omaha Library Association transferred its collection to the city and a tax-supported public library was established.

The system has since expanded well beyond a single central building. The former downtown W. Dale Clark Main Library closed in 2022, and central-library services are now provided through the Downtown Branch, while construction continues on a new Central Library scheduled to open in 2026.
