Plage des Marinieres (Mariners' Beach), Villefranche-sur-Mer

Mariners' Beach (Plage des Marinieres) is the longest and most popular beach in Villefranche-sur-Mer, stretching for about a kilometer along the bay. With the historic old town on one side and a wooded hill on the other, the setting is nothing short of spectacular. Behind the beach, steep cliffs rise dramatically, completing the breathtaking scenery.

The sand, though slightly coarse, is comfortable underfoot, making it perfect for barefoot walks along the shore. However, visitors should be aware that this beach is not particularly secluded, as the Nice-Italy railway runs just above it, offering easy access via the nearby train stop. Bus 80 from Nice also stops right at the beach, making it one of the most accessible beaches on the Riviera.

Between the beach and the train station, a closed road provides paid parking for up to 400 vehicles. Along this road, several snack bars serve a variety of food, from quick takeaways to sit-down meals at shaded tables. Some kiosks even sell alcoholic beverages, allowing visitors to enjoy a refreshing drink by the sea.

One of the highlights of Mariners' Beach is The Baths of the Beach, a private beach concession that enhances the experience with a touch of elegance. Located in one of the most stunning harbors in the world, this beach club is a favorite among both locals and visitors looking to relax in style. It offers a refined selection of seasonal cuisine, focusing on fresh, local ingredients and seafood specialties sourced from its own fishpond.
