Salisbury Methodist Church, Salisbury

Salisbury Methodist Church is an active place of worship with a history closely connected to the early Methodist movement in England. A Methodist congregation has been established here since 1759, and the site has strong links with John Wesley, who visited the congregation more than 40 times and signed the original property deeds.

The present chapel was rebuilt in 1810 and reflects the simple, balanced design of the Georgian period rather than the Gothic style often associated with Victorian churches. A church hall was added later in 1880, while the interior was extensively remodelled in 1973 and again in 1992 to create flexible spaces for worship and community use. One of the church's most distinctive features is the Creation Embroidery, a detailed textile artwork that attracts visitors interested in religious art and craftsmanship.
