Seoul Land, Seoul
Seoul Land is South Korea’s first modern theme park, opening in 1988 just before the Summer Olympics. Though smaller than Everland, it welcomes some 3 to 3.5 million visitors annually, thanks to its convenient location within the Seoul Grand Park complex and proximity to the city. Spread over part of a 300,000 m² park area-with roughly one-third dedicated to greenery-Seoul Land strikes a pleasant balance between fun attractions and open space.
Seoul Land is thoughtfully divided into five themed zones: World Plaza, Adventure Land, Fantasy Land, Tomorrow Land, and Samchulli Hill. From panoramic coasters like Black Hole 2000 and Columbia Double Loop, to wild‑mouse rides such as Crazy Mouse, and family-friendly options like Tikitoc Train and Tobot Train, there's a mix suitable for all thrill levels. Character-themed attractions featuring popular Korean animations, like Larva, bring a playful charm, and World Plaza offers international-themed facades reminiscent of classic Main Street areas.
Beyond rides, Seoul Land is known for its seasonal festivals and evening entertainments. The park transforms with each season-spring's Tulip Festival, summer blooms, autumn foliage, and winter’s Snow Light Festival. At night, a captivating laser and light show brings the atmosphere alive with performances and magical visuals.
Seoul Land is often considered the best amusement park for young children, including those tall enough to enjoy a wider range of rides, as the attractions are gentle rather than extreme. The park is relatively small and remarkably quiet, offering a more relaxed atmosphere compared to larger theme parks. It's mainly frequented by local families, with most tourists opting for the more popular Everland or Lotte World.
