SO 36, Berlin

SO 36, Berlin

The heart of Berlin’s punk scene since the 1970s, SO36 has seen its share of revamps over the years. Still keeping its dark and decidedly un-glamorous interior, an awesome range of punk and hardcore bands can still be found playing to pack crowds to this day. At one point this great club was regarded as highly as CBGBs in New York and saw such esteemed guests as Iggy Pop and David Bowie. Nowadays, SO36 offers a wider range of alternative sounds, including its popular and long-running Electric Ballroom featuring techno, as well as Gayhane, a gay and lesbian party with a Turkish theme, including Middle-eastern pop and a lots of classic electronica to keep guests moving on the dance floor.
