St. Paul's Anglican Church, Vancouver

The Anglican Parish of Saint Paul was established in 1891 during a period of rapid population growth in Vancouver. Originally situated at the heart of its designated geographic area, the church underwent a significant change in 1898. It was placed on skids and moved northwest, shifting away from the railway yards in Yaletown to a location closer to the West End, where the majority of parishioners resided.

In 1905, a larger church was erected to replace the original one, with the former church building repurposed into a parish hall. The new church was constructed on the same spot as the old one, while the latter was relocated nearby to serve as the parish hall. The architectural style chosen for the new structure was Gothic Revival, characterized by its pointed-arch windows and doors. This design adhered to the traditional aesthetics of English parish churches, a familiar sight for the congregation members of that era, as well as their parents.

A noteworthy aspect of the church's interior was the pipe organ, designated as Opus 264 and crafted by Casavant Frères of Québec. This organ holds the distinction of being recognized as the first of its kind to be built west of the Rocky Mountains.
