Starlight Studio and Art Gallery, Buffalo

Starlight Studio and Art Gallery, Buffalo

Starlight Studio and Art Gallery is a dynamic and inclusive art space in downtown Buffalo, dedicated to supporting the creative development of adults with disabilities. Founded in August 2005 by the Learning Disabilities Association of Western New York-now known as Beyond Support Network-the studio was inspired by a successful model in California and brought to life through the vision of Marc Hennig, an art enthusiast passionate about accessibility in the arts.

Designed as a day habilitation program funded by the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities, Starlight offers a cooperative and welcoming environment where artists receive technical guidance from professional mentors. The studio is well-equipped with a wide variety of materials, allowing artists to explore and grow in disciplines such as painting, drawing, ceramics, fiber arts, and sculpture.

More than just a workspace, Starlight serves as a public gallery showcasing contemporary works by Starlight artists alongside rotating exhibitions from the broader community. Through on-site and off-site exhibitions, as well as opportunities for art sales, the program empowers its artists to gain visibility, refine their voices, and build stronger connections with the community.

With its light-filled studios and beautifully curated displays, Starlight is not only a hub of artistic expression but also a beacon of inclusion, advocacy, and opportunity in Buffalo’s cultural landscape.
