Taipei Story House, Taipei
The Taipei Story House, previously known as Yuanshan Mansion, stands as a historical residence situated in Zhongshan District, Taipei. At present, it operates as a museum within Taipei Expo Park.
Constructed in 1913 by Chen Chao-chun, a tea merchant from Dadaocheng, this mansion showcases English Tudor architectural elements. Originally designed to serve as a guesthouse for accommodating friends, visiting merchants, and esteemed guests, it has evolved into a designated heritage site. Today, it hosts over 100 diverse activities each year, encompassing exhibitions, seminars, musical performances, tea-related lectures, and fairs.
The mansion's ground floor was built using bricks, while the upper floors feature wooden construction with English Tudor-style beams. The staircase resembles a pagoda, and the gable above the entrance is adorned with stained glass in green, yellow, and red hues. Inside, two fireplaces can be found, along with a profusion of Art Nouveau tiles and ceiling lamps featuring bas-relief floral patterns.
The Story House museum has transformed to house exhibits focusing on tea and local history. It is conveniently located adjacent to the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and in proximity to Yuanshan Station.
