The History Museum was built in 1883 in the Moorish style, which is characteristic of many other buildings in Irkutsk. The building itself became a monument to famous researchers from Asia. The museum's archaeological collection presents items from a variety of ancient cultures. There is also a unique collection pertaining to the ethnography of Siberia.
