The Orange Peel, Asheville

The Orange Peel, Asheville

The Orange Peel is a standing-room music venue known for presenting national touring acts, local talent, and open-mic comedy nights. Originally opened in 2002 in a former skating rink and nightclub, the venue takes its name from a 1970s soul club that previously occupied the same building.
It can accommodate around 1,100 guests and includes a downstairs lounge called Pulp, which features a full bar, a live video feed of performances upstairs, and rotating local art displays.

Since its opening, The Orange Peel has hosted a wide range of performances across genres, including appearances by Bob Dylan, Ms. Lauryn Hill, The Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, Queens of the Stone Age, and Ice Cube. Notable multi-night residencies, such as The Smashing Pumpkins’ nine-show run in 2007, have also taken place here. It was recognized by Rolling Stone in 2008 as one of the top five rock clubs in the United States.
