Uzun Çarşı Sk. (Long Bazzar Street), Antalya

Long Bazaar is one of the main traditional shopping areas within the historic quarter, linking busy commercial spaces with the older lanes around the former walled town. Trade has taken place in this part of the settlement for centuries, and the bazaar developed particularly during the Seljuk and Ottoman periods. Historical inscriptions connected with the Seljuk reconquest of 1216 were placed along sections of the old inner fortifications near this route.

Today, the narrow pedestrian lanes are lined with small shops displaying carpets, leather goods, jewellery, ceramics, textiles, lamps, spices and many kinds of souvenirs. Traditional craft items appear beside modern clothing and tourist goods, while cafés and food stalls add to the busy market atmosphere. The layout reflects the older Ottoman bazaar tradition in which different trades were often grouped into particular sections.

Browsing is an important part of the experience, and visitors can compare handmade objects, patterned fabrics, decorative metalwork and the familiar blue glass nazar amulets associated with Turkish culture. Bargaining is common in many souvenir and craft shops, especially for higher-priced goods such as carpets, leather products and jewellery.
